Quick Start - Your Plan for Health

Quick Start - Registration Guide

Faculty & Staff "How to Register"

Participation in the program is completely voluntary. Before registering for the program, read this notice on participation. You are also able to review how Ohio State and our partner Virgin Pulse keeps your data private.

If you recently became a benefit-eligible employee but have been participating in the program as a spouse in another employee’s Ohio State medical plan, you do not need to register a new account. Please contact Virgin Pulse by emailing osusupport@virginpulse.com or calling (833) 556-6287 to let them know about your status change. They will make adjustments to your account so that you can log in and retain the points/activities you previously earned.

The first step is to register your account. Use your name.#@osu.edu through single-sign-on to register at join.virginpulse.com/osu.

Multi-factor Authentication –  a second layer of security, using BuckeyePass, is needed to access Virgin Pulse. BuckeyePass service is powered by Duo Security, a proven solution in multi-factor authentication.

Once you have registered your account, you can then download the Virgin Pulse app for Android or iOS.

You can begin earning points just for setting up your account for the first time, setting goals and adding friends. To learn how to set up your account and what points area available go here for the full list or see highlights below.

Earn a Premium Credit

Enrolled faculty and staff can earn a $25/month premium credit, or up to $40/month with an enrolled spouse, off of employee medical plan contributions by completing a Personal Health and Well-being Assessment (PHA) and a verified Biometric Screening to earn premium credit.

  • To reduce your cost for health care and receive the full premium credit for 2022, complete the PHA and biometric screening verification by December 31, 2021.
  • NEW HIRES:   If you were newly hired, became eligible for benefits in 2021 OR missed the 2020 deadline, you have the opportunity to begin earning premium credit once you complete the PHA and screening.
    • Once you complete both, the PHA and screening, you will begin to see the premium credit applied to your pay within 30 days. It will be listed as a “Benefit Credit” in your pay summary. If you are receiving the employee and spouse credit, the total you’re receiving will be combined on one line.
    • This credit will be applied prospectively, until the end of the calendar year AND through the duration of the 2022 calendar year while you’re enrolled in an Ohio State medical plan.
Earn Points for Healthy Activities

During the program year (January through December), participants have many opportunities to earn points every day when tracking healthy habits and behaviors, which can quickly accumulate to help you complete up to four incentive levels, each quarter.

Earn Rewards

As you advance through the incentive levels each quarter, you earn rewards. If you’re enrolled in an Ohio State medical plan, you can earn premium credit, Health Reimbursement Account (HRA) credits and PulseCash. Employees who are eligible for Ohio State benefits but not enrolled in an Ohio State medical plan can earn PulseCash.

The rewards you earn are dependent upon your medical plan enrollment status reflected in the YP4H portal at the time you reach each incentive level.   New hires are encouraged to enroll or decline medical coverage prior to earning incentives in the Yp4H program.

Spouses "How to Register"

Please note: Ohio State employees CAN NOT complete any of the registration steps or enter information in the Virgin Pulse portal/app on behalf of their spouse.

Spouses must be covered on the medical plan and are only eligible to register and participate once enrollment becomes active. For example, if you elect spousal medical coverage during open enrollment, your spouse will not be able to begin participating until 1/1 when coverage actually begins.

If you recently enrolled in another employee’s Ohio State medical plan as a spouse but have been participating in the program as a benefit-eligible employee, you do not need to register a new account.
