COVID-19 & The Loss Of Normalcy: Managing Grief

December 9 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

While COVID19 initially presented as a major public health crisis,  the resulting effects of the pandemic have created a significant mental health crisis as well. Change, transition and loss have been with us personally, professionally and collectively for months.

For some, the losses are immediately obvious – loss of health, loss of job, loss of financial stability – all are major life altering events that have tangible consequences for our well-being. For most of us, however, the losses are less easy to define. Changes in our day to day routine, missing a graduation, a wedding, a football game, the constant cancellations and adjustments and a move to a largely virtual style of interaction are all common now. Any of these viewed as a single event can seem minor, even trivial, but, when taken together, they represent a significant loss of security and stability. The result is a collective and pervasive sense of grief that has real emotional consequences for individuals and communities.

This webinar will seek to explore and validate the ways the pandemic has created grief in our lives. We will look at ways individuals can begin to manage these constant transitions in a healthy way and will offer suggestions for addressing the resulting grief as we each seek our new normal in these ever changing times.
