Qigong/Chi Kung

Qigong is a kinetic meditation practice developed in China. The practice involves focusing breathing and moving energy through the body. There are thousands of forms of Qigong and this class will focus on Chi Kung, one of the traditional forms. Chi Kung has been used as an adjunct to trauma recovery and to improve overall health. Chi Kung is a set of techniques linked to traditional Chinese medicine. In Chi Kung, you practice a number of physical, mental, and breathing exercises to improve your overall health. This class is to learn how to increase mindfulness by moving energy in the body. Students will learn both movements and meditative techniques.
Important Notes:
- Wear comfortable loose-fitting clothing.
- For the first section of the practice, you will be standing, so comfortable shoes should be worn.
- There will be some light stretching involved.
- This practice involves learning distinct types of breathing that will facilitate your focus and ability to move energy.
- If you have previously taken Qigong with the Center, please be aware this is a different style and will be like taking a new class.
