Summer Adventure - Your Plan for Health
Whether you seek adventure, aspire to achieve personal goals or just want to take time to focus on you – this five-week summer challenge sets you up for success. You have the opportunity to choose your own journey and earn up to 500 points by participating in one or all five of the weekly challenges. The adventure starts July 17, 2017!
Explore Your Opportunities
Each week we’ll focus on fun ways to enhance your emotional well-being and give you a chance to explore a different path of personal growth. The challenge aligns to the following themes:
| Embrace movement with a new task or activity
Get organized (at work or at home)
Summer cleaning – what can you recycle, upcycle, donate or trash?
Try a new fitness class or sport
Go for a walk in nature or grab a bike and cruise your neighborhood
Do a few easy stretches at your desk each hour
| Give your brain a break and reset your state of mind
Read 15 minutes in a positive book (view suggestions)
Turn off your phone and disconnect
Breathe deeply for 5 minutes
Build in short recovery breaks throughout the day
Have a healthy brain snack like avocados, walnuts or fresh fruits
| Find a balance between work and play
Meditate / practice yoga
Start a gratitude list
Make leisure time a priority
Connect with an old friend or family member
| Explore your surroundings and find something new
Find a new coffee shop or restaurant in your community
Go to the library and check out some items (books, DVDs, CDs, etc.)
Visit a local farmer’s market to buy ingredients for a new recipe
Discover resources available to you through work, church, friends, etc.
Attend a live event (theater, sporting event, concert, art gallery)
| Take time to create a unique project
Do a DIY project
Learn a new skill
Create artwork using items you already have
Work on a puzzle
Try a new craft (blowing glass, candle making, pottery painting, etc.)
Earn up to 500 points by participating in the weekly challenges (each challenge you participate in is worth 20 points per week).
Bonus Points: Get social! Snap a photo of your adventure, then email it to firstname.lastname@example.org or post it to Twitter, Instagram or the YP4H Facebook page using #YP4HSummerAdventure. You could win an additional 25 points if your photo is selected to be featured in the weekly challenge email.
Organize and schedule an on-site activity for your coworkers for the chance to earn an additional 50 bonus points* for all who participate. View the toolkit for ideas, but you are not limited to what is listed – let your creative juices flow! Submission rules/instructions are below:
1. Plan an activity and communicate it to your unit/department!
2. Make sure all who participate in the activity include their name and email address on a sign-in form. You will be required to upload this on the submission form so that those who participate can be awarded their bonus points.
3. Take a photo that captures the essence of the activity and includes as many of the participants as possible. You will be required to upload this on the submission form to confirm participation of those on the sign-in form.
4. Fill out the submission form with the information above. All entries must be received by 11:59pm on Sunday, August 20.
5. Approved activity submissions will be awarded bonus points and will be posted on our Facebook page.
- * Individuals can only earn bonus points for participating in one on-site activity, but are encouraged to participate in as many as they would like.
Join us on Wednesday, August 16th from 11:00am-1:00pm on the South Oval at an event to celebrate each of the challenge themes. MOVE, THINK, FEEL, FIND & CREATE at each station with a variety of fun activities.

Ohio State and Your Plan for Health (YP4H) are committed to helping you achieve your best health. Rewards for participating in wellness challenges are available to all benefits-eligible faculty and staff and their spouses/SSDPs who are enrolled in the OSU Health Plan. If you are unable to meet the current standard in light of your health status (physician recommendation, pregnancy, etc), you might qualify for an opportunity to earn the same reward by different means (provider waiver or reasonable alternative).
