Doc Brown’s Photo Hunt

Dr. Emmett Brown, our favorite quirky and eccentric scientist, needs your help collecting data. These observations should occur during the week the prompt is given and should not be photos that have been taken days/weeks/months/years prior. The observations should also be yours alone and should not be photos downloaded or screenshotted from the internet.

Read about the drawing details here.

Week 1 Prompt

We’re starting our challenge journey learning about a variety of Travel & Transportation milestones throughout the course of history. From sailing to the invention of the wheel to eventually sending a man to the moon, this stage covers planes, trains and automobiles. Sadly, Doc Brown’s time traveling DeLorean and Marty McFly’s hoverboard did not make the list!

  • While out getting steps this week, snap a photo of any form of transportation that you see while on your walk. Add your photo to the challenge chat room by 11:59PM on 4/9 for your chance to win.

Week 2 Prompt

We’re working on getting to the next stage of the challenge that covers Social Milestones, like when Louis Pasteur laid the groundwork for modern epidemiology on July 6, 1885, when he vaccinated a young boy who had been bitten by a rabid dog and saved his life. Doc Brown and Marty McFly also visited 1885, but had they inputted 11,000 B.C. into the DeLorean they would have witnessed our ancestors’ planting seeds for the first time, allowing people to stay in one place and not have to keep moving in search of new food sources.

  • While out getting steps this week, snap a photo of any form of new growth from flowers, shrubs, and trees that you see while on your walk. Add your photo to the challenge chat room by 11:59PM on 4/16 for your chance to win.

Week 3 Prompt

After unlocking the Social Milestones stage late last week, we’re now working towards the Thrill of Victory. This stage covers a variety of historically significant sporting moments including the 1958 World Cup Final when Pele – regarded one of the greatest soccer players of all time – scored two goals and remains the youngest player to ever participate in a final (at 17 years old). This could have been one of the early sporting events that Biff Tannen bet on after receiving the almanac in 1955, putting him on his path to wealth and corruption.

  • While out getting steps this week, snap a photo of any form of sport being played / type of recreation that you see while on your walk. Add your photo to the challenge chat room by 11:59PM on 4/23 for your chance to win.

Week 4 Prompt

Last night we unlocked the Thrill of Victory stage and are now working towards Culture and the Arts. This stage will introduce us to art in all forms, from ancient cave paintings to Greek playwrights to the “First Lady of Song” – Ella Fitzgerald. She won her first of 13 Grammy Awards in 1958, becoming the first African American woman to do so. Marty McFly’s overly ambitious guitar solo during his rendition of Johnny B. Goode at the Enchantment Under the Sea dance in 1955 did not garner any similar accolades because at the time, the audience was “not ready for *that*.”

  • While out getting steps this week, snap a screengrab of your favorite playlist that you enjoy listening to while you walk/run. Add your photo to the challenge chat room by 11:59PM on 4/30 for your chance to win.

Week 5 Prompt

We’re still working towards unlocking the Culture and the Arts stage. In this stage we’ll learn more about Dutch artist Vincent van Gogh who painted from 1880-1890, which was the latter part of the Impressionist period. The light, loose brush strokes that defined this movement stand in stark contrast to the rugged landscape of the Wild West that Doc Brown and Marty McFly visited in 1885. For artists like van Gogh, the idea was to capture a real-life moment – an impression.

  • While out getting steps this week, snap a photo of any landscape that leaves an impression on you that you see while on your walk. Add your photo to the challenge chat room by 11:59PM on 5/7 for your chance to win.

Week 6 Prompt

After unlocking the Culture and the Arts stage late last week, we’re in the home stretch! We only have a handful of days left to work towards The Information Age. This final stage covers a variety of technological advances, from the Gutenberg Press to the telegraph to the smartphone that you may be using to read this message. When Doc Brown and Marty McFly traveled to the future in the 1989 sequel, some of the gadgets they witnessed in 2015 did actually come to fruition – wearable technology, videoconferencing, mobile payments, virtual reality, and drones.

  • While out getting steps this week, think about what type of recent technological advance that you can’t live without while on your walk. When you get home, take a photo of this item, and add your photo to the challenge chat room by 11:59PM on 5/14 for your chance to win.

Drawing Details

All submissions that are deemed to have been taken within the timeframe of the current challenge week and deemed to be original photos will be entered into the drawing. Two winners will be randomly drawn from all eligible submissions.

Biff Tannen's Guessing Game

Infamous bully (and possible TTUN fan?) Biff Tannen became wealthy due to his possession of a Grays Sports Almanac that he acquired while in the future. You may not have an almanac to guide you, but you can try your hand guessing the outcomes of some upcoming Buckeyes sporting events for your chance to win.

If there are multiple correct/closest answers, two winners will be randomly drawn from that group.

If either the softball or baseball game is rained out and only one game is played, only the runs from the game that is played will be counted and the two participants that guess the total number of runs that is equal to or closest to the actual result without going over will win. If there are multiple correct/closest answers, two winners will be randomly drawn from that group.

If a previous softball or baseball game is rained out and a double header makeup game is played on the announced date, only the runs from the first game of the series will be counted and the two participants that guess the total number of runs that is equal to or closest to the actual result without going over will win.
